2019 Yamaha MT-09 gets a new colour option
Yamaha India has updated the colour options on its hyper naked offering, the MT-09. The number of options remain unchanged, however, the Night Fluo has been replaced by Ice Fluo. The new paint scheme has given a white shade on the fuel tank, radiator panels, highlights under the headlight and also the rear panels. The wheels are done in red in a similar shade of 09 vinyl on the fuel tank. Yamaha India has updated this paint option on its official website. Additionally, the pricing has been left unchanged. The Yamaha MT-09 is priced at Rs 10.55 lakh, ex showroom Delhi and rivals the likes of Triumph Street Triple RS, Kawasaki Z900 and Ducati Monster 821.
The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by an inline triple cylinder displacing 847cc and also uses Yamaha's famous crossplane crankshaft technology that debuted on the YZF-R1. This unit makes 115PS at 10,000rpm and generates 87.5Nm at 8,500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. We have already ridden the Yamaha MT-09 and felt that the throttle response is instant and fueling precise, while refinement levels are top notch  be it the engine or the six-speed gearbox  which makes for a very premium feel. In other news, Yamaha dealerships across India have started accepting bookings for the upcoming MT-15 which is to be launched on March 15, 2019. The prices are yet to be announced, however, customers can book the MT-15 for a token amount of Rs 5,000. It, essentially, is a YZF-R15 V3, minus the fairing. The rider's triangle is also upright, in contrast to the committed, race bike position of the R15. Powering the 2019, MT-15 is the same 155cc motor, seen on the YZF-R15 V3, which produces 19.3PS of power and 14.7Nm of torque. The bike will also borrow the cycle parts from the YZF-R15 V3 such as the conventional telescopic fork, and a 282mm disc brake up front, however, the rear will have a box-type swingarm unlike the aluminum swingarm seen on the YZF-R15 V3. The bike will be equipped with a dual-channel ABS system as well.
