2020 BMW X6 India-spec: In detail
After opening bookings for the 2020 BMW X6 in India this January, the German carmaker has launched the third-generation model with prices starting at Rs 95 lakh.
Sharing platform and underpinnings with the new X5 launched last year, the new X6 boasts of a beefier stance, sportier styling cues and a larger cabin than the outgoing car. In comparison to the X5, the X6 features a wider grille and features an optional illumination package. The all-important coup form is highlighted by the shaper and sportier tail, which also sits lower than the outgoing model. Like the X4, it employs sleeker taillights to highlight the connection with BMW's sportscar range. Contributing further that effect are two spoilers - a sloping split unit on the roof and a sharper blade-like spoiler on the edge of the hatch. Trapezoidal exhaust tips are the in-thing at BMW and the X6 features them as well. Optional equipment includes BMW Laser Light enabled headlamps, a head-up display, a panoramic glass roof with the Sky Lounge lighting package, the Clarity Glass inlays, and cabin fragrancing package.
BMW has only launched petrol variants of the X6 in India - the xDrive40i xLine and the xDrive40i M Sport. Both the variants use a 340PS, 450Nm, 3.0l six-cylinder turbo-petrol with a ZF 8 speed automatic and xDrive rear-biased all-wheel-drive. The package is good for a 0-100kmph springtime of 5.5s. Suspension duties are carried out by adaptive air suspension on both axels. The M Sport Package comes equipped with M Sport Brakes, M Sport exhaust system, Adaptive M Suspension, M aerodynamics package and 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.
The new X6 xDrive40i xLine is available in Manhattan Metallic, Artic Grey Brilliant Effect, Mineral White, Flamenco Red Brilliant Effect, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect, Black Sapphire and Alpine White, while the M Sport gets additional colour options like Riverside Blue Metallic, Carbon Black, Tanzanite Blue Metallic and BMW Individual Ametrine Metallic.
Both, the X6 xDrive40i xLine and the X6 xDrive40i M Sport are priced identically at Rs 95 lakh (ex-showroom) and are distinguished by their exterior styling cues and interior material choices. The xLine goes with traditional options, while the M Sport as expected chooses sportier styling cues.
The xLine version comes with aluminium exterior trim in the grille, roof-rail, etc., grey body cladding and unique front bumper and alloys. The M Sport version is sportier to look at with high-gloss exterior trim, an M aero package, and larger alloy wheels. The M Sport also gets unique suspension tuning, brakes and exhaust system. On the inside, the M Sport also gets M-specific pedals, steering wheel and optional carbon-fibre trim elements.
