2020 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace: What to expect?
Volkswagen is all set to launch the seven-seater version of the Tiguan, called the Tiguan Allspace on March 6 in India. Compared to the regular Tiguan, the Tiguan Allspace will come with an extended wheelbase of 109mm and an increase in overall length of 215mm. With the extended wheelbase, the Tiguan Allspace will get a total boot space of 700 litres with the third row of seats folded, compared the regular Tiguan with 615 litres. Volkswagen will also discontinue the diesel powertrain present in the outgoing Tiguan. Here are a few things to expect from the Tiguan Allspace.
Drivetrain- The Tiguan Allspace will feature a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 190PS and 320Nm, discontinuing the diesel powertrain. Also, the Allspace will get a six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic gearbox with an all-wheel-drive configuration, with different driving modes.
Performance- In terms of performance, the Tiguan Allspace will most likely be similar to the Tiguan SUV, and with petrol powertrain, the Allspace will sprint from 0-100 kmph in 8.2 sec, which seems impressive compared to the 9.6 sec of the outgoing Tiguan with the 2.0-litre diesel.
Safety- The Tiguan Allspace will come with seven airbags including knee airbags along with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESP (Electronic Stability Control). There is also an electronic stabilization control, which will alert the driver in situations of loss of traction control. Other features include the reverse parking camera with sensors and the tyre-pressure monitoring system.
Exterior and Interior- The Allspace will come with LED DRL's and a panoramic sunroof along with 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the SUV features new Vienna leather seats along with an active info display, which can be personalized by the driver according to preferences. The Allspace will also get three-zone climate control for front and rear passenger. The R-Line trim will also be avaialble with more aggressive bumpers and sporty red accents.
Pricing- We expect the pricing to be around Rs 30-35 lakh ex-showroom, a slight premium over the regular Tiguan, considering the added row of seats and cosmetic changes. When launched, the Tiguan Allspace will rival with the Skoda Kodiaq and the Honda CR-V seven-seater.
