2020 Yamaha FZ 25 and FZS 25 coming soon

Yamaha recently announced the launch of the 2020 FZ 25 and the FZS 25 by releasing a teaser video on its social media channels. The bike was initially set to launch this month, but the nationwide lockdown because of the Coronavirus pandemic has delayed it to May 2020.

The bike mechanically remains the same while it gets cosmetic updates. The new BSVI compliant 249cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine with oil cooler is mated to a 5-speed transmission that pushes 20.8PS of power and pulls 20.1 Nm of torque. There is negligible power loss as compared to the BSIV model. The overall weight of the bike has gone up by one kilogram, so the new BSVI model will be very similar to the outgoing model.

The cosmetic updates include a revised headlamp set-up, it is a little more compact and sharp if compared to the older version. The revised front gives a fresh look to the bike, it sports LED headlamps with DRLs. The tank design remains unchanged and the side panels look less butch. At the rear, the split seat, pillion grab rail design and the tyre hugging mudguard remain unchanged. The FZS comes with knuckle guards, windshield and premium colour options.

The feature list includes a new side stand engine cut off function, and the rest of the features remain unchanged with a full LCD instrument cluster, 17-inch alloy wheels, telescopic forks up front and a monoshock set-up at the rear, 282mm disc brake for the front tyre and 220mm for the rear tyre with dual-channel ABS.

The BSIV compliant FZ costs Rs 1.4 lakh and the FZS has a price tag of Rs 1.45 lakh. A hike of Rs 10,000 is expected.
