2021 Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback launched in India, prices start from Rs 99.99 lakh
Audi India has launched the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback in India. Prices for the luxury electric SUVs start from Rs 99.99 lakh for the Audi e-tron 50 with the e-tron 55 priced at Rs 1.16 crore and the Audi e-tron 55 Sportback at Rs 1.17 crore. Bookings for the e-tron began last month with the booking amount for both EVs set at Rs 5 lakh
The Audi SUVs are based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB architecture, which in this case, is a heavily reworked version of the MLB underpinnings found underneath the Chinese-market Audi Q5 LWB. The Audi e-tron and the e-tron Sportback is offered in two drivetrain option in the Indian market. The more potent one is the 55 quattro, which houses a liquid-cooled 95 kWh lithium-ion battery between the two axles. This powers two electric motors, one on each axle, for a combined output of 360PS and 561 Nm, and AWD capabilities. This lets the electric SUVs get from zero to 100 kmph in 6.6s.
A boost function is available which increases outputs to 408PS and 664 Nm, and drops the acceleration time to 5.7s. Three levels of recuperation are available, accessed via the paddle shifters, and these can recover upto 30 per cent of the energy spent. Further, these also assist in deceleration. This set-up gives its a 400 km range. Aside from the usual drive modes available in other Audis, a special 'Range' mode is available via the drive select which shuts down auxiliary energy-consuming functions to eke out the most distance. A e-tron 50 is the base version, also with a dual motor set-up. This makes 312PS and 540 Nm from a smaller 71.2 kWh battery pack. The e-tron 50 can get from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.8s and reach a 190 kmph top-speed. The WLTP range is up to 341 km.
2021 Audi e-tron charging, features
The e-tron EVs can be charged in three ways. The first is using a regular 11 kWh hour AC charger, supplied complementarity, which takes 8.5 hours. An optional 22 kWh fast charger will also be an option for the customer, which tops up the car in 4.5 hours. Further, the e-tron 55 can also be charged using a 150 kWh AC fast charger, which gives 80 per cent range in 30 minutes. The e-tron 50 can accept a 120 kWh AC charge. Audi India will set up the chargers in owners houses when they buy either e-tron. The firm thinks that a full charge should suffice for week-long city usage. The company is setting up 50 kW DC fast-charging stations at its dealership across the country, which will be complementary to early adopters. These chargers will be open to other EV owners at a cost, while owners of the e-tron can locate them through the Audi connect app. Know more about the Audi e-tron here.
