2021 Honda CB500X launched at Rs 6.87 lakh

After much speculation, Honda 2 Wheelers India have launched the CB500X adventure tourer in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs 6.87 lakh. That pricing slots it right in between the Benelli TRK 502 and the Kawasaki Versys 650. Like its compatriot, the Honda CB500X arrives in India as completely knocked down kits and will be assembled locally.

The CB500X is powered by a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that churns out 47.5PS and 43.2Nm of torque, which makes its output comparable to the KTM 390 Adventure. However, the Honda CB500X is known for its smooth and refined motor and that is likely to find a lot of appeal in the Indian market too. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a slip and assist clutch. Ironically

The CB500X steel tubular frame and is suspended by a mono-shock at the rear with 135mm of travel and 41mm telescopic forks upfront with 150mm of travel. The CB500X rides on 110/80-19 and 160/60-17 tyres and the front and rear. The braking hardware includes single 310mm and 240mm petal discs at the front and rear respectively, mated to dual-channel ABS which is standard fitment. Ironically though, the ABS isn't switchable and there are no traction control, riding modes or ride-by-wire. The CB500X weighs 199kg and has a seat height of 830mm.

The CB500X is available in two colour options - a metallic black, or the Grand Prix red - and can be bought only via Honda's Big Wing network of premium dealerships.
