2021 Kia Sonet launched in India, prices start from Rs 6.79 lakh
Alongside the 2021 Kia Seltos, Kia India has brought changes to the sub-four-metre Kia Sonet as well. Prices for the 2021 Kia Sonet start from Rs 6.79 lakh and go up to Rs 13.25 lakh. The Sonet too gets new features, the new Kia logo and more features for the mid-spec versions.
The Sonet SUV now gets two new Tech Line variants. These are the higher-spec HTX variant with either the 1.0-litre turbo and 7DCT or a diesel auto with the higher output VGT. The newly added paddle-shifter from the Seltos also make their way here. These are available on these new variants as well as on the GTX+ 7DCT and HTX AT. The new variants also get a segment-first rear window sunshade with the top HTX+ and GTX+ versions also getting this. These top versions now also get a voice control function for the sunroof.
2021 Kia Sonet updated variantsThe mid-spec versions of the 2021 Kia Sonet now come with more convenience and safety features. The HTX and HTX+ variants now get more safety features in the form of safety tech like electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, brake assist and hill-assist. The HTX version further gets 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The two newly added variants also see the addition of drive and traction modes. Features like the push-button start, remote engine start, sunroof and chrome door handles have been added to the turbo petrol and diesel HTK+ variants.
2021 Kia Sonet engines
There are two petrol engines and one diesel motor on offer with the 2021 Kia Sonet, unchanged from before. One of the petrols is the Kappa T-GDI 1.0-litre turbo. This three-cylinder motor makes 120PS and 172Nm and can be paired with two gearboxes, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and the iMT clutchless manual. The other petrol motor, for lower-spec cars, is the 1.2-litre petrol with 83PS and 116Nm, paired with a five-speed manual. The single diesel option is the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel motor which puts out 100PS and 240Nm, paired with a six-speed manual. The diesel engine can also be paired with a torque converter automatic. In this iteration, the diesel Kia Sonet puts out 115PS and 250 Nm.
2021 Kia Sonet pricesPrices for the updated Kia Sonet start from Rs 6.79 lakh for the HTE 1.2-litre N/A petrol manual, topping out at Rs 8.65 lakh for the HTK+ variant of this version. For the turbo petrol prices start at Rs 9.79 lakh for the HTK+ iMT and go up to Rs 12.99 lakh for the GTX+ 7DCT.
