2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan arrives on February 11
Royal Enfield has started the teaser campaign for its next offering, the updated Himalayan, which will be launched tomorrow. What comes in with the new year are new colour options, three to be precise - White, Silver and Green. Importantly, Royal Enfield will be introducing its Tripper Navigation TFT screen on the Himalayan, which we believe was much needed for it being an adventure motorcycle. Apart from these two things, the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will remain unchanged in terms of mechanicals. However, it is being said that RE might bump up the prices of the Himalayan.
In terms of specifications, the single-cylinder, 4 stroke, SOHC, air-cooled, fuel-injected 411cc motor puts out 24.3PS at 6,500rpm and generates a torque of 32 Nm at 4,000 to 4,500rpm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
In other news, Royal Enfield has entered the Japanese market with its first store at Suginami, Tokyo. The company will be selling its range of motorcycles, which includes the Classic 500, Bullet 500, Himalayan, GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. RE will be offering sales and service at this store and will also be retailing official merchandise. Opening of a store in Japan is part of RE's plan of expanding its mid-sized motorcycle presence across the globe. The motorcycles that will be sold from this dealership will be manufactured in India. The company sold a total of 68,887 units in January 2021, marking a growth of 8 per cent over the previous. While domestic sales were higher by 5 per cent this year, gain in exports was 103 per cent with a sale of 4,515 units as compared to 2,228 units.
