2021 Tata Tigor EV Ziptron launched in India with 306km range, prices start from Rs 11.99 lakh
Tata Motors has launched the longer-range 2021 Tata Tigor EV for individual owners in India with prices starting from Rs 11.99 lakh for the base XE variant. This version of the Tigor EV packs the Ziptron architecture from the Tata Nexon EV and comes with different visual cues and more features to separate from the standard range Tigor EV now rebadged the Xpres-T EV for fleet buyers.
The high-voltage Ziptron architecture in the Tata Tigor EV revolves around a 26 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor making 75PS and 170 Nm. Tata Motors claims a 0 to 60 kmph time of 5.7s for the Tigor EV. Like in the Nexon EV, the battery pack is IP 67-rated and complies with the AIS - 048 standard for nail penetration at the cell level. There is an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty on the battery pack.
As for charging, the Tata Tigor EV uses the CCS2 plug for fast charging that can replenish the battery for 0 to 80 per cent in an hour. Charging from a 15 A socket takes 8.5 hours to charge to the same level. The lower ride height and lighter weight over the Nexon EV should give the Tigor EV a real-world range of between 200 to 225 km with the ARAI figure at 306 km, similar to that of the SUV. With this model, low rolling resistance tyres, as well as a retuned regeneration strategy, have been introduced to improve range.
