2021 Volkswagen Taigun interiors revealed ahead of festive season launch
Soon after the global debut of upcoming Volkswagen Taigun, the firm has now released the first photos of the interiors of the locally manufactured SUV, ahead of its launch during the festive season. Like the exteriors, the interiors of the Volkswagen Taigun closely resemble those of the concept shown at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Volkswagen Taigun's interiors retain the restrained, uncluttered look of the outside. There are typical Volkswagen design cues like the flat surfaces, crisp shapes and simple controls, finished in a dual-tone shade of dark and light grey. A notable addition is that of the virtual cockpit instrument cluster, unlike in its cousin the Skoda Kushaq. Differentiating it further from the Kushaq is the enclosed 10-inch touchscreen, the typical new-style three-spoke VW steering wheel and the slim AC vents. Although, the lower half of the dash seems identical to both cars with the touch-sensitive climate controls, glovebox and gear lever being typical VW parts bin fare.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun featuresNotable features on the inside of the Volkswagen Taigun should be Type-C USB charging, connected-car features, a single-pane sunroof, climate control, ventilated front seats, up to 17-inch alloy wheels and large amounts of interior storage. The Taigun, along with the Kushaq, will be one of the first mainstream cars to offer ESC as standard. Other than this, there are six airbags, TPMS, hill-hold function, rear parking camera, front parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun engine and gearbox
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 110PS and 175 Nm, which should be offered in the low to mid-spec versions of this new SUV. With a six-speed manual, the six-speed torque converter from the Vento will also be available. Also, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that makes 150PS/250 Nm and pairs with a seven-speed DCT will be offered on higher trims. The larger engine will get a six-speed manual as well. A get GT version will be offered as well, as seen here with the alloy pedals and flat bottomed steering wheel.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun expected price and launch dateBased on the same heavily localized MQB-A0-IN architecture, the Taigun will launch in India after the Kushaq at the start of the festive season of 2021, around August-September 2021. Prices of the Volkswagen Taigun should mirror that of the Kushaq and range between Rs 10 to 16 lakh.
