2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak unveiled
As if the Ducati Multistrada V4 S wasn't brilliant enough, the Italian manufacturer has unleashed a performance-enhanced, road-biased version of the lively adventure-tourer upon the world - ladies and gentlemen, the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.
The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is what Ducati are calling the 'sportiest Multistrada ever', and we see no reason to contradict that statement, seeing as this model features a single-sided swingarm, lighter, revised steering geometry, fancier electronics and since it's more road-biased, runs on 17-inch alloys on both ends (the regular Multi V4 S rolls with a 19-inch front). Both front and rear Marchesini forged wheels are lighter than the set on the regular Multi V4 S by 2.7kg and contribute to the Pikes Peak's overall weight reduction of 4kg. The 17-inchers run on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV 120/70-17 front and 190/55-17 rear section tyres. The brakes are still a top-drawer affair âÂ" comprising 330mm twin discs and top spec Brembo Stylema calipers up front and a 265mm rotor at the rear with a Brembo floating calliper from the Multistrada V4 S. The Pikes Peak's footpegs are also set higher and farther back by 10mm, while the handlebars are narrower and more angled. And of course, what's not to love about that GP inspired livery.
While the Multistrada V4's 170PS V4 Granturismo engine is carried over into the Pikes Peak unchanged, there are a fair bit of changes under the skin. The V4 Pikes Peak comes with a road-legal titanium and carbon Akrapovic silencer and gets a Race riding mode which replaces the Enduo mode on the regular MultiV4 S, while featuring the Sport, Touring and Urban modes. Other electronic sport-oriented updates are related to wheelie control, quickshifter and ABS calibration.
The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak also gets the radar tech on both ends, which functions Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) like on the Multistrada V4 S.
The Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is scheduled to arrive in markets abroad by the end of this year, and we can expect the bike to launch in India around the first quarter of 2022.
