2022 Toyota Hilux specifications revealed ahead of India launch
Ahead of the India unveil of the 2022 Toyota Hilux pickup scheduled for later this month (January 20th), more details of the Hilux, including its powertrain specification, transmission options, colours and expected price, have been confirmed basis dealer documentation.
2022 Toyota Hilux expected priceBased on what we see, we expect the Hilux to be priced competitively against the likes of the Jeep Compass, which should put it in the Rs 28-30 lakh (ex-showroom) ballpark, or significantly under the Toyota Fortuner, which it will share several components with, including the production line at the TKM plant in Karnataka. Pre-bookings for the 2022 Toyota Hilux will commence at launch for a booking amount of Rs 1 lakh, with deliveries slated for March 2022.ÃÂ
2022 Toyota Hilux specifications
The double-cab Hilux will be powered by the 2.8-litre diesel engine as in the Fortuner, with the option of manual and automatic (both six-speed) transmissions, with all-wheel drive as standard, a locking rear differential and an electronic limited slip differential. We expect similar outputs âÂ" 204PS and 420Nm for the manual, going up to 500Nm for the automatic. International versions of the Hilux with similar powertrain configurations carry claimed 0-100kmph performance figures of 10.13s (MT) and 10.7s (AT), with a top speed of 175kmph. Kerb weight of the Hilux is expected to be between 2.1-2.3 tonnes depending on spec. In this case, we expect the internationally available Invincible/Invincible X variants to be made available in India, perhaps under different naming conventions. The Hilux will be specced with 18-inch wheels and 265/60 HT tyre combination as standard.ÃÂ
2022 Toyota Hilux features, colours
That aside, the Hilux will likely be made available with a host of accessories at the time of delivery that should make it ready for camping excursions and the like. Standard equipment will likely include LED headlights, keyless entry and start/stop, electronically adjustable driver's seat, cooled glovebox, 220V power socket, front and rear parking sensors and more.
Choices for colours (five in total) include Emotional Red, Gray metallic, White Pearl CS, Silver metallic and Super White. It's also confirmed that the Hilux will come with a 3 year/1 lakh kilometre warranty standard, with an extended warranty of 5 years/2.2 lakh kilometres available. As for its direct rivals, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross MT and AT variants are priced between Rs 22.07-25.60 lakh, ex-showroom.ÃÂ
