New Mercedes-Benz GLC: Dimensions and Design

The new GLC is available in a choice of five shades, namely Polar White, Obsidian Black, Nautic Blue, Selenite Grey, and Mojave Silver. Further, it is 4,716mm long, 2,075mm wide, and 1,640mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,888mm. In addition, the front and rear tracks are wider by 6mm and 23mm, respectively.

The design is innovative rather than pioneering, thus it is still recognisable as a GLC. The grille has grown in size, with the tri-pointed star taking centre stage, flanked by a pair of sharper LED headlights for a more aggressive appearance. When viewed from the side, the lines are now softer, giving it a cleaner appearance, while the 19-inch dual-tone alloys give it a hefty posture. New geometric tail lights complete the entire look.

New Mercedes-Benz GLC: Powertrain

The India-spec GLC 300 gets a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor generating 258PS at 5,800rpm and 400Nm between 2,000rpm and 3,000rpm. This unit returns a fuel economy of 14.72kmpl. Whereas, the GLC 220d comes powered by a 2.0-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that produces 197PS at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque between 1,800rpm and 2,800rpm. This motor gives out a mileage of 19.47kmpl.

Notably, both units now get mild hybrid functionality, which provides a brief power boost of 23PS and 200Nm. Mercedes offers its 9G Tronic automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive as standard across the board.

It also boasts a raft of features, such as a wireless charging pad, LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone temperature control, a Burmester surround system, and 64 colours of ambient lighting, among others.
