2024 Citroen Basalt unveiled in India
Citroen has revealed the Basalt for the Indian market ahead of its launch taking place in August. The brand revealed a few exterior pictures of the crossover coupe, but the interior is still under the wraps.
The Citroen Basalt is one of the first mass-market crossover coupe vehicles in the country, alongside the Tata Curvv. Its slanting roofline, stretching toward the boot lip, takes 1974 CX and C4. Based on the C3 Aircross, the Basalt carries over various signature and familiar design elements from its siblings. The French automaker says that this vehicle combines the elegance of a coupe with the practicality of an SUV, creating a unique driving experience. That said, the India-spec model is likely to get at least a couple of new colours at launch.
Citroen Basalt: InteriorAs mentioned earlier, Citroen did not reveal the interior pictures. But the cabin, going by the recent teaser, is expected to get a seven-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android, Automatic temperature control, multifunctional steering wheel, USB Type-C/Type-A charging sockets, fabric or leatherette seat covers, rear seat air-con vents, and more. Other features may include TPMS, ESP, ABS with EBD, keyless entry, and engine start/stop button, among others.
Citroen Basalt: Powertrain
Powering the Basalt could be the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 110PS and 205Nm of torque. This motor is likely to be mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
