2024 Kia Sonet facelift spotted testing in South Korea
The Kia Sonet, which made its global premiere in India in August 2020, is scheduled to get a big facelift, with preliminary spy images revealing some design hints. The Sonet is manufactured in India and has gradually become one of the best-selling Kia models, as well as being exported to countries like Indonesia, Mexico, and the Middle East.
The Kia Sonet facelift has been sighted in South Korea ahead of its unveiling. The 2024 Sonet facelift will compete with the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300.
The international test mule was most likely shipped to Kia's headquarters in South Korea. The Kia Sonet facelift will most likely try for a sportier look. The bumper will also be completely redesigned, with bigger fog lamp housings. The headlights and fog lights appear to be linked by a vertically positioned piece, which might be the turn indicators or LED daytime running lights.
According to Kia's track record, the Sonet facelift is expected to get a much stronger road presence. The new tailgate design appears to be flatter towards the back. The taillights have also been redesigned, with new L-type units akin to the Seltos facelift.
There is unlikely to be any changes to powertrain options for the Kia Sonet facelift. The sub-four meter SUV will retain its 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 83PS and 115Nm of torque and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit that generates 120PS and 172Nm of torque. While the former is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, the latter is paired with a six-speed iMT and seven-speed DCT automatic transmissions. There's also a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit that makes 116PS.
The Sonet already has a lot of features, such as a huge touchscreen infotainment system, a sunroof, and chilled seats, to mention a few. Anticipate some small interior changes, such as new upholstery colours and accents, as well as new feature upgrades.
The 2024 Kia Sonet is slated to be released in December of this year. According to the manufacturer's plans, the facelifted Seltos will be released in July, followed by the updated Carens in September, and finally the Sonet facelift in October.
