2024 Skoda Enyaq EV showcased at Bharat Mobility Expo
The Skoda Enyaq EV made its public debut in India at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo today. The expo will be held 1 and 3 February at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. That being said, the Enyaq will be the first-ever all-electric offering introduced in the country from the Czech Republic-based carmaker. Notably, the model presented at the show is the Enyaq 85 trim with a claimed range of 560km.
The brand introduced MY2024 model globally, featuring new trims, extended range, more potent powertrains, quicker charging capability, and an enhanced infotainment system. Some international markets also receive the Enyaq Coupe variant. Meanwhile, the Skoda Enyaq has gained popularity in western markets, with approximately 55,000 units delivered worldwide in the first nine months of 2023, marking a year-on-year increase of over 47 per cent. In some international markets, the Enyaq comes with a range of trim levels, starting from 60, 60 Edition, 85 Edition, 85x Sportline Plus, 85 L&K, and the top-of-the-line vRS.
Each variant of the Enyaq offers distinctive power outputs and range. With a re-tuned rear axle motor and an upgraded voltage converter brings more power to the Enyaq 85 and 85x with all-wheel-drive, producing 286PS over the previous 80 trim and tops out 180kmph. The 85 now delivers an increased range of 560km. Plus, the RS boasts 41PS more power â€" totalling 340PS. The torque output has gone up to 545Nm too. Meanwhile, the Enyaq 60 carries over the same powertrain.
The 85 can now go from zero to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds, while 85x all-wheel drive takes 6.6 seconds. The performance-oriented Enyaq vRS claims to achieve 100kmph from a standstill in 5.5 seconds, a second quicker than its predecessor. Not to mention, it now provides a range of 541km.
The all-wheel-drive versions, the 85x and RS, now come with quicker charging capability â€" thanks to an increased DC charging rate of up to 175 kW. Charging the 82kWh battery from 10 to 80 per cent now takes 28 minutes (eight minutes or 22 per cent less than before). Whereas, the 85 with rear-wheel drive version continues to offer a maximum charging rate of 135kW.
Skoda Enyaq Highlights
The latest software update has introduced battery pre-conditioning to the Enyaq, pre-heating the battery for DC charging in low temperatures and optimising charging speed by up to 22 per cent. The new interface features a more intuitive menu layout, allowing users to create shortcuts for frequently used settings and apps. Other features include new map graphics, a larger map area for the navigation system, and a Walkaway function that automatically locks the car when the driver walks away with the key.
