The Tata Altroz Racer is all-set to debut in the Indian market tomorrow, on 7 June, while on-sale Altroz is also said to get an update, bringing in additional features. But what sets the Altroz Racer apart from the standard model? Let us check out.

Tata Altroz Racer vs Tata Altroz: Variants & colours

Reports suggest that the Altroz Racer will be available in three variants: R1, R2, and R3 across three paint schemes, namely Pure Grey, Atomic Orange, and Avenue White. In contrast, the updated Altroz will be available in a range of variants: XE, XM, XM S, XM+, XT, XM+ S, XM+, XZ, XZ+ S, and XZ+ OS. However, the updated Altroz will reportedly gain four new variants. Currently, the Altroz gets Downtown Red, Avenue White, Harbour Blue, Opera Blue, High-Street Gold, Daytona Grey, and Cosmo Black colours.

The Altroz Racer will boast a host of new features, such as leatherette upholstery, projector headlights, fog lamps, a seven-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (both screens were debuted with the Nexon facelift) eight speakers, airbags, voice-enabled electric sunroof, wireless charging pad, 360deg camera, blind spot monitor, air purifier, connected car tech, and ventilated front seats.

On the flip side, the current Altroz gets a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, four speakers, a seven-inch part-digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, an idle start/stop function, leatherette seat covers, wireless charging pad, mood lighting, iRA connected car tech, dual front airbags, ESP, and reverse parking camera with sensors, among others. Having said that, the upcoming 2024 Altroz will feature new displays, fabric seat covers, more speakers, multiple airbags, 360deg camera with blind spot monitor, ventilated front seats, and more.

Tata Altroz Racer vs Tata Altroz: Engine specifications

The most significant difference between the standard Altroz and the Altroz Racer will its new engine borrowed from the Nexon - a 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 120PS at 5,500rpm and 170Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. This motor will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The on-sale Altroz comes with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 110PS/140Nm, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 88PS/115Nm, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol with iCNG with 73.5PS/103Nm, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor with 90PS/200Nm. Transmission options include a five-speed and a six-speed DCT. Once the Altroz goes on sale, the 1.2-litre i-tubro powertrain will likely no longer be available with the standard Altroz.

Tata Altroz Racer vs Tata Altroz: Prices

The base price of the standard Altroz ranges from Rs 6.65 lakh to Rs 10.80 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Racer variant is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.
