A new Bentley Continental GT is currently in the works

Bentley has revealed the first photographs of the impending new-gen Continental GT, ahead of its formal unveiling. It will have a redesigned body and a new hybrid powertrain, making it "the most powerful and dynamically capable" Bentley yet. The new tourer is expected to make its official debut only in 2025.

The forthcoming fourth-generation grand tourer will be the first Bentley to have the new 'ultra-performance hybrid' setup, which combines an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 with a single electric motor that is intended to be incorporated into the transmission. The new car will signal the end of production for the famous W12 engine, which has already been phased out.

With a total of 782PS and 1,000Nm of torque, we could see the new Continental GT go from 0 to 100kmph in under 3.5 seconds. The additional features of the new Continental GT include all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential, a 48V electric anti-roll control system, and dual-valve damping suspension.

Bentley claims the car will have an electric-only range of 80 kilometres.

Although the car in these photographs is camouflaged, its style is clearly inspired by the carbon-bodied Batur, which has lengthened headlamps and incredibly muscular haunches. A new set of alloy wheels is also visible, as is a new, thinner-than-before light design, a new bumper, and a different form of twin exhaust tips.

The first Continental GT, introduced 22 years ago, 'started the revival of Bentley' and was considered to redefine the firm for the current day. Within four years of entering showrooms, the brand's sales had risen to more than 10,000 units each year.

Today, the Continental GT accounts for one in every three Bentleys sold, making it the second most popular model overall, trailing only the Bentayga SUV.
