ABT tunes the new Volkswagen Beetle
ABT Sportline, the tuning brand, has announced a new tuning kit for the new Volkswagen Beetle. The engine gets an up on the power, while the exteriors get aerodynamic and styling updates.
The body kit includes a front spoiler, rear skirt and panels, head and taillight covers, and twin mufflers connected to an ABT sport exhaust system. New paintjobs include matte mystic anthracite, gunmetal and silver bullet. Alloy sizes vary from 18 to 20 inches and they come wrapped in high-performance tyres. This Beetle gets a low slung ride thanks to the tuner dropping the suspension springs by 30mm.
The 2.0-litre TSI unit delivers 240PS instead of 200PS and 340Nm instead of 280Nm thanks to the power pack. The same package on the 1.4-litre TSI unit results in 210PS with 280Nm of torque. The 1.2-liter TSI churns out 140PS instead of 105PS with 220Nm instead of 175Nm. The 2.0-litre TDI model makes 170PS instead of 140PS with 370Nm, while the 1.6-litre TDI delivers 125PS instead of 105PS and 285Nm of torque.
Volkswagen users have options for aftermarket upgrades, but ABT has always been a major aftermarket player. The tuner firm had previously released its performance kit for the Beetle in 2012. ABT has now updated its package for the latest generation of the bug.
