Alfa Romeo 4C sets record lap time at Nurburgring

Alfa Romeo has confirmed that its new 4C has lapped the legendary Nordschleife at the Nurburgring in Germany in a record-breaking time of 8 minutes 04 seconds.

The 4C does a 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of around 257kmph

This is the fastest time set by a car which has an engine with power figures under 250PS. The record was set last month on September 12. Alfa Romeo also claims that the 4C does a 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of around 257kmph.

The new 4C is powered by a 1.7-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 240PS and 350Nm of peak torque. Other new mechanicals include the latest‐generation 'ALFA TCT' dry twin clutch gearbox and the advanced Alfa D.N.A. selector with its newly-introduced "Race" mode. The car also gets specifically designed Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tyres.

The exact lap time set by journalist and 'Ring expert Horst von Saurma was 8:04.40.
