All-new Hyundai Verna India launch soon; production to commence in March
The long-awaited new-generation Hyundai Verna is said to be ready to go into production in India by March this year, ahead of its expected global debut in the coming months. The all-new Verna will feature a radically designed exterior, a new cabin, and a lot of techs.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Design
The new-gen Verna prototype has been spied testing in India and overseas, giving away its exterior details. The upcoming Verna will get a completely overhauled exterior, likely to consist of a new large 'Parametric Jewel' grille, a split LED headlight setup, LED taillights, a set of alloy wheels, and probably a rear LED light bar running across the width.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Interior
The fresh interior is expected to bring in new leatherette/leather upholstery, two 10.25-inch screens comprising a driver display and a touchscreen infotainment system, and a steering wheel. In addition, the new sedan could also get a wireless charging pad, electric sunroof, powered driver seat, and in-cabin air filter, among others.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Features
Hyundai will outfit the new-generation Verna with Advanced Driver Assistant Systems (ADAS). Notably, one of the spy shots of the prototype model showed that the sedan was equipped with an ADAS module at the front. Additionally, the brand is likely to offer ESP, hill ascent and descent control functions, all-wheel disc brakes, six airbags, BlueLink-connected car features with smartwatch connectivity, and ventilated front seats.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Powertrain
The upcoming new-gen Verna could continue to be powered by a 1.5-litre, inline-four, naturally aspirated petrol engine making 115PS and 143.8Nm of torque. The sedan might also get the same BS6 2.0-compliant 1.5-litre diesel motor with 116PS/250Nm that recently made its debut with the updated 2023 Venue. It is hard to say whether Hyundai plans to carry forward the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit or replace that with a new engine.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Price and Rivals
While the prices of the on-sale Verna range between Rs 9.64 lakh and Rs 15.72 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the upcoming new-gen Verna could attract a higher premium. Meanwhile, Hyundai's sedan will compete against the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia in India.
