All-new India-bound Lexus LM unveiled
Lexus unveiled the all-new LM at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show 2023. The luxury minivan has entered the second generation with a fresh design inside and out, new tech, and hybrid powertrain options. Notably, the LM will be available in numerous international markets, such as the Middle East, Europe, and India.
Lexus LM: Platform, Dimensions, and Design
The new generation LM uses Toyota's TNGA-K modular platform. With this, the MPV measures 5,125mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,955mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000mm. With the overhauled exterior, the LM features an enormous grille with hexagonal-pattern elements, Lexus' signature daytime driving lights integrated into LED headlights, door-mounted outside door mirrors, a light bar at the back running across the width, and a new set of 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels. In addition, the design language of the LM is dominated by various cuts and creases on the body panels.
Lexus LM: Interior
The luxury minivan comes with rear sliding doors and three different seat layout options: six, seven, and four-seat configurations. The latter sports a massive 48-inch display for rear-seat passenger entertainment. The screen is not just for watching films or web series but the passengers can even attend conferences and meetings. Not to mention, Lexus has also bestowed it with a small refrigerator and a privacy glass between the front and second row with two-level dimming.
Furthermore, the LM four-seat version comes equipped with first-class-style captain seats, a 23-speaker surround sound system, leather-wrapped retractable tables, reading lights, USB charging ports and wireless charging pad, and more. Another highlight of the rear row is the overhead temperature sensor that monitors the temperature of various parts of the passengers. It can also detect how cold or hot are the windows, along with other areas to adjust the air-con temperature accordingly.
Lexus LM: Powertrain
The LM will be available with a 2.4-litre hybrid and 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain options. The details of the powertrains will be available closer to its international market launch. Meanwhile, a more potent LM500h is also on the cards.
