All-new Mercedes-Benz GLC teased ahead of launch
Mercedes-Benz has teased the upcoming new generation GLC again via its social media handles. The teaser hints that the launch of the highest-selling SUV from the German carmaker in the Indian market is just a few short weeks away. Mercedes-Benz has earlier shared pictures of the new GLC covered in starry camouflage. Currently, the outgoing GLC is available in a choice of two trims: 200 Progressive and 220d 4Matic Progressive, priced at Rs 62 lakh and 68 lakh (both ex-showroom), respectively. However, the upcoming new generation GLC is likely to attract a higher premium given that it features a raft of new features, electrification across the board, all-wheel drive as standard, new-gen MBUX, and more. Notably, the prices of the new model could range between Rs 65 lakh and 70 lakh.
The second generation GLC is 4,716mm long, 2,075mm wide, and 1,640mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,888mm. Whereas, the front and rear track width has also been increased by 6mm and 23mm, respectively.
The key highlights of the exterior include new headlamps with eyebrow-style daytime driving lights, a wider grille, new front door-mounted outside view mirrors, new front and rear bumpers, new triangular taillamps, dual exhaust tips, and new alloy wheels. On the inside, the interior has received a complete overhaul. There is a new MBUX setup with a 12.3-inch driver display and 11.9-inch central information hub that debuted with the flagship S-Class, fresh seats, a new steering wheel, and C-Class-inspired air con vents. Mercedes-Benz, however, has ditched the MBUX trackpad and button setup to give the centre console a clean look, which now houses cubby holders and a wireless charging pad.
New Mercedes-Benz GLC teased: Features and equipment
The feature-list of the all-new GLC comprises a new off-road mode with 'transparent bonnet' function, enhanced Advanced driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), LED headlamps, 360deg camera, Burmester surround system, 64 colours ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, and multi-zone temperature control. Optional extras could include an engineering package with airmatic air suspension and rear-axle steering along with progressive digital headlamps.
New Mercedes-Benz GLC teased: Engine, power outputs, and transmission
Mercedes offers the international-spec model with three primary powertrain options: GLC 200, GLC 300, and GLC 220d, along with three PHEV choices, namely GLC 300e, GLC 400e, and GLC 300de. However, we expect the India-spec new GLC to come with only GLC 200 4Matic, GLC 300 4Matic or GLC 220d 4Matic trims. These petrol and diesel engines now get mild hybrid functionality.
