All-new Triumph Speed Triple spotted testing, could be powered by a 1,200cc triple

Triumph Motorcycles has started testing its super naked, the all-new Speed Triple. And from the looks it, it means serious business, which also includes competing against the upcoming 2021 BMW S 1000 R, that too is taking its final shape. Also, not to forget there are the Ducati V4 Streetfighter and the KTM Super Duke R. Among the things that one can see from the motorcycle in pictures, the styling is aggressively mean, there's an-all new large displacement motor and then all of that should be complimented with an army of electronics. The production-spec version of the all-new Speed Triple could make its appearance by the end of this year but the launch can be expected to take place sometime next year.

All-new 1,200cc triple

A closer look at the images of the new-gen Speed Triple will reveal that the engine design and the casing looks different compared to the previous iteration, wherein the former seems to have gained on the displacement capacity. According to MCN, this could be a large displacement 1,200cc triple with a similar form as the new-gen Street Triple, which could have helped Triumph develop a lighter Euro5 compliant engine. This unit could be making a power output of close to 180PS with a strong rating as well. And we can expect it make its characteristic triple sound but with a bass-y tone.

B&Os

The motorcycle that was caught testing featured Brembo Stylemas, which interprets to superior braking performance also seen on many performance-spec machines. Further, the new-gen Speed Triple will come with Ohlins'. Also the rear suspension is a directly mounted on the swingarm and does not use linkage, which could be to save space and accommodate to the larger catalytic converter for the stricter emission norms.

Styling and features

We have always loved the muscular profile of the Speed Triple, but for the 2021 Speed Triple, Triumph Motorcycle has gone aggressively sharp, as seen with the overall stance. The headlight assembly packs in bare minimum while the side looks interesting with the large engine and the sharp lines, along with the new alloys. Also, gone is the chunky exhaust unit and for a stubby underbelly unit. We believe that the trellis frame does not come with substantial changes in terms of design, but with an update in material where steel has been replaced by cast aluminium, for weight management issues. The instrumentation is said to be new which will run on Triumph's latest firmware with Google Maps and GoPro controls along with other options.
