All-new Volkswagen Tiguan breaks cover
Volkswagen has unveiled the new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV all over the world. The SUV's third generation has a fresh look, new amenities, updated engine options, and much more. The new Tiguan, which is based on the MQB evo platform, will only be available in a five-seat configuration. The Volkswagen Tiguan is the best-selling vehicle in the Volkswagen Group, and it will be available in India sometime next year.
The new Tiguan measures 4,539mm in length, 1,639mm in height, and 1,842mm in width. It is 30mm longer and has a wheelbase of 2,680mm. The new Tiguan is 4mm higher and 30mm longer than the previous generation. The new Tiguan's design is similar to that of other recent new Volkswagen vehicles in that it is less angular than its predecessor, with broader shapes within the surface.
A streamlined grille panel and slimmer matrix LED headlights are among the changes to the front fascia. It has elegant IQ Light HD Matrix headlights with 38,400 multi-pixel LEDs. It also receives a thin LED strip connecting both headlights, as well as larger air intakes with a massive black panel in the centre.
The new Tiguan's characteristic side body line has been replaced with two feature lines above the wheel arches, which contain wheels ranging in diameter from 17 to 20 inches. A new horizontal LED strip with a full-width light signature adds prominence to the back, as does a huge black trim piece on the bumper.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: PowertrainsIn addition to using Volkswagen's most recent passenger-car underpinnings, the new model gets a redesigned lineup of petrol, diesel, and petrol-electric plug-in hybrid drivetrains. There are two plug-in hybrid variants, with 204PS or 272PS total output. These vehicles are also equipped with a 19.7-kilowatt-hour battery, which may enable an electric-only range of up to 100 kilometres. The AC charger now supports 11 kW, and when connected to a DC fast charger, the car can take up to 50 kW.
There are other mild-hybrid options available. The 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder is powered by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and a 48-volt starter/generator. Cylinder deactivation allows the engine to function on only two pistons.
The third-generation Tiguan also has a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 204PS or 265PS. Turbodiesel engines are still available. There's a 2.0-litre tune with 150PS or 193PS.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: InteriorsInside, new ergoActive Plus seats with pneumatic four-way lumbar adjustment and a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure massage function, as well as a Digital Cockpit based on the fourth-generation MIB4 modular infotainment matrix, with plenty of screen acreage - there's a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch central infotainment display touchscreen, complete with new graphics and a menu structure are some of the highlights.
Aside from a new head-up display, the centre console now boasts a Driving Experience Control, which is a rotary controller with its own OLED display. This is used to adjust drive modes, radio volume, and the colours of the ambient lighting. Aside from that, an IDA voice assistant allows voice commands to control a variety of car and infotainment tasks.
