All the unique features on the new Kia Seltos SUV
We recently spent some time behind the wheel of the Kia Seltos, our experience of which you will be able to read about come August 9. But before that, here's a look at all the unique features that Kia Motors India has piled onto its first SUV, and product, for India.
Two trim lines
In a first for this segment, the Kia Seltos will be offered in two different exterior packages. The Tech Line and GT Line cars have slightly different exterior adornments and come with unique trim elements on the inside.
Four transmission options
For the first time in any mainstream car, Kia is offering the Seltos with three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. There will be a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. Buyers will be able to choose a transmission tailored to their usage. The CVT, paired with a 1.5-litre petrol will appeal to city slickers while the diesel and torque converter will appeal to customers who run their car over longer distances.
Terrain and drive modes
While the Tata Harrier comes with a similar system, the Seltos pairs this with an auto for the first time. The system works with the car's stability control, traction control and brake assist system to optimise grip in mud, wet and sand modes. Further, Eco, Normal and Sport modes are available, which optimise steering and throttle responses.
Three infotainment screen sizes
The Seltos can be had with three different infotainment screens. The base versions get a 3.8-inch 2-DIN unit with four speakers. As you go higher you can get an 8-inch infotainment unit with eight speakers while the top-of-the-line car gets a 10.25-inch unit with a Bose 8-speaker set-up.
Sound mood lighting
Aside from an ambient lighting set-up on the higher trims, the versions equipped with the Bose audio package also come with a dynamic sound mood feature. This changes the ambient lighting colours according to the type of music being played.
Air purifier and perfume
The Seltos comes with an air-purifying system built into the centre armrest. This improves air quality within the cabin, there's also a digital readout which shows you how clean the air is, in real time. Additionally, the system also comes with a perfume dispensing system.
Head-Up Display
Another new feature on the Seltos is a HUD. This is an onboard system that displays its information onto a pane of glass in front of the driver.
UVO connected car tech
The Seltos also comes with Kia's UVO connected car suite of functions. This gives it remote start/stop, AC on/off, vehicle tracking and diagnostics and access to emergency services.
