Aprilia RS 457 production commenced at Baramati plant in Maharashtra

Aprilia, after its global and Indian launch of the RS 457, has commenced local manufacturing of this supersport model at the Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. Marking a significant milestone, the RS 457 has also become the first Aprilia motorcycle ever manufactured in the country. That being said, the customer deliveries of the new RS 457 are set to begin in March 2024.

Aprilia RS 457: Engine and Performance

The heart of the RS 457 houses a brand-new 457cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. It delivers 47.58PS at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6,700rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Aprilia RS 457: Design, Features, and Specifications

Sporting a strikingly sporty design inspired by its acclaimed siblings â€" the RS 660 and RSV4 â€" the RS 457 bears an aggressive aesthetic. Sharp lines, angular panels, daytime running lights, and dominating contours define this true-blue supersport.

It is equipped with a five-inch TFT colour display, all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire technology, dual-channel ABS, traction control, backlit handlebar controls, a quick-shifter, and three riding modes. With an aluminium frame, the dry weight stands at 159kg, translating to a wet weight of 175kg. Complementing its build are upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock, a 320mm front disc with a radial-mounted four-piston calliper, and a 220mm rear disc.

Aprilia RS 457: Competition

The RS 457 enters a quite competitive segment, rivalling the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the recently launched Yamaha YZF-R3. Priced at Rs 3.18 lakh, Rs 5.24 lakh, and Rs 4.65 lakh (all ex-showroom) respectively.
