Aprilia RS660 supersport teased ahead of its EICMA 2019 debut
Aprilia RS660 is the Italian motorcycle manufacturer's interpretation of middleweight supersport that was showcased as a concept at the EICMA 2018. A year down the line, the motorcycle has been teased by Aprilia just days before this year's EICMA where the Aprilia RS660 is set to make a debut. The teaser image shows the silhouette of the side profile which closely matches the concept design. The overall styling is expected to be loyal to the concept motorcycle that was showcased.
The engine is a derivation of the elder Aprilia RSV4 1100's unit where the company has taken the front two-cylinders of the V4 engine layout and derived a parallel-twin. The engine is a stressed member and the swingarm pivot has been positioned inside the crankcase making the dimensions of the motorcycle compact. Cycle parts include Sachs for suspensions and Brembo Monoblocks callipers for braking as showcased on the concept motorcycle. The electronic suit is expected to feature traction control with different levels, cornering ABS, wheelie control and launch control.
Along with the release of the concept, Aprilia also stated the motorcycle could do rounds of the Asian markets. Given the Indian market gets attention from manufacturers across the world, Aprilia RS660 could be brought to our domestic market alongside the Honda CBR650R, Kawasaki ZX-6R and the next-generation Daytona 765 that is expected sometime next year.
