Ashok Leyland Stile discontinued

Ashok Leyland has discontinued its people mover, the Stile. The company says that it has withdrawn the product from the market owing to poor sales. Essentially a rebadged Nissan Evalia, the Stile was the first product that spawned from the joint venture between Nissan and Hinduja Group owned Ashok Leyland. The Ashok Leyland Stile was priced at Rs 7.49 lakh, ex-Mumbai.

The Stile's grille was larger than that of the Evalia. So were its headlamps

The Stile was aimed at the fleet cab and tourist vehicle market and was hence priced a notch below the Nissan Evalia. The 1.5-litre, K9k diesel engine was also detuned to 75PS in the interest of more fuel economy. The front end of the car featured a different, wider grille than the Evalia in the quest for distinction. The headlamps were larger too. The rear, though, was similar to the more expensive Nissan Evalia.

The side profile of the Ashok Leyland Stile was similar to the Nissan Evalia

On the inside, the Ashok Leyland Stile was well equipped for the price at which it retailed. There were sliding windows, dual air-conditioner and captain chairs that were offered as an option.

The Ashok Leyland Stile CNG

Ashok Leyland had also introduced a CNG version later in the model cycle to boost sales. However, the Stile's sales failed to gather any momentum. The Nissan Evalia too has not fared as well as the Japanese company would have liked. There is no word, however, on what Nissan plans to do with the Evalia as it has been bringing out facelifts every year since it was launched.
