Audi announces price hike for its cars in India starting from May 1
Audi India has announced a price hike across its range by an average of three per cent. The price hike comes into effect from May 1, 2014. Audi says that the constant fluctuation in the forex rate has resulted in rising operational and input costs which lead to this decision.
Audi started this year with the launch of the new RS 7 in India and has also opened three new showrooms in India. The German manufacturer also recorded its best ever quarterly sales figure (Jan-March 2014) with 2740 units. It also registered a sale of 10,126 units, the company's best ever financial year sales for the fiscal year 2013-14.
Joe King, head of Audi India said, "While Audi has exhibited stellar sales performance in 2013 and in the first quarter of 2014, the overall market scenario has remained challenging with the constant fluctuation in forex rate; thus resulting in a rise in input and operational costs. To address this, we have rationalized prices, but have ensured that the impact is as minimal as possible. Additionally, we continue to offer our customers innovative finance solutions from Audi Finance which will make their purchase more attractive."
Audi will most likely launch the A3 sedan in India this year.
