Audi India introduces 'Charge my Audi' initiative

Audi India has introduced the 'Charge my Audi' initiative on its 'myAudiConnect App' for e-tron owners. This feature serves as a one-stop destination, providing access to multiple EV charging providers through a single app. Above all, Audi has also announced its plan to launch the new Audi Q8 e-tron in India later in 2023.

Audi India's 'Charge my Audi' initiative

With 'Charge my Audi', the e-tron owners no longer need to download multiple apps for charging their EVs. Audi's claim is that customers can initiate the EV charging session directly through the 'myAudiConnect App', which also handles automated identification and billing processes simultaneously.

The 'myAudiConnect App' currently offers five charging solution providers: Aargo EV Smart, Charge Zone, Relux Electric, LionCharge, and Zeon Charging. As a part of this, over 750 chargers are available to e-tron owners through 'Charge my Audi', with Audi India planning to expand the charging station network in the coming months. Notably, Audi e-tron owners will also enjoy free-of-charge EV charging across the network until August 2023.

Furthermore, the 'Charge my Audi' initiative enables users to plan their route, locate charging stations along the way, and check charging terminal availability. Customers can even start and stop charging their EVs and make payments for charging sessions within the same app. Currently, Audi India's EV lineup includes the Audi e-tron, e-tron Sportback, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT.

Charging infrastructure in India

Electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and solution providers have been expanding in India to support the increasing adoption of EVs. Be it the government, government-owned entities, states and municipal corporations, private firms or automakers, they are all taking initiatives to establish a nationwide charging network.

Thanks to the influx of charging providers, numerous apps have inundated smartphone app stores, requiring EV owners to download different apps for charging their electric vehicles at various charging stations. While Audi's commendable approach has somewhat relieved this burden for its EV customers, there is still a need for multiple charging providers to operate under a unified umbrella.
