Auto Expo 2012 - Mahindra & Mahindra brings SsangYong to India
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. was present in full strength at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. They had four products from the SsangYong stable, showcased in India for the first time. And also Mahindra Navistar Automotives Limited (MNAL) also had a new customized truck application on display.
From the SsangYong stable, Mahindra had the XIV - 1 concept, the Rexton, the Korando E and the Actyon Sports on display. The XIV-1, with its name taken from the 'eXciting user Interface Vehicle' is a compact crossover concept which is an attempt to combine the features of a B-segment SUV with the affordability of a small family car. One of the interesting designs in this concept is that each of the four seats can rotate 360 degrees and can also move forwards and backwards âÂ" all of this to enable the passengers to enjoy a sense of freedom within the vehicle.
The Rexton is an SUV aimed at customers looking to take their vehicles off roading. It has a 2.7-litre turbocharged common-rail diesel engine under the hood which produces a maximum power of 184 PS and a massive 402 Nm of torque. The Rexton styling philosophy is derived from both the luxury aspect of an SUV and the ruggedness of an off-roader. It has three rows of seats which can seat seven people. This SUV also has foldable seats which help increase storage area when needed.
The Korando E is SsangYong's second SUV EV, following the Korando C EV launched at the 2010 Busan Motor Show. It is a pure electric car concept model based on the Korando C. The all new Actyon Sports is a sports utility truck which applies modern design cues to a traditional pick-up truck.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Goenka president of automotive & farm equipment sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said, "The Delhi Auto Expo 2012 is an important platform for the Mahindra Group given that we are displaying our comprehensive suite of mobility solutions for the first time. Having harnessed distinct synergies with SsangYong, the showcase of the Rexton, the Korando E, the Actyon Sports and the XIV-1 Concept for the first time in India, bear testimony to the world class technologies that are now available across the group.
