Auto Expo 2020: Mercedes-Benz to launch V-Class Marco Polo luxury camper on Feb 6
Mercedes-Benz will launch the V-Class Marco Polo luxury camper in India on 6 February at the Auto Expo 2020. The V-Class Marco Polo will be the country's first camper and will come packed with loads of features.
The car manufacturer was inspired by the success of the V Class Luxury MPV in India, which was launched in November last year and decided to bring forth the luxury camper, this year in the Auto Expo.
Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, Martin Schwenk said, "At Auto Expo 2020, besides launching the AMG GT 4 Door Coupe and unveiling the A-Class Limousine and the New GLA SUV, we also will be launching something unique and never seen before in India. Inspired by the success of the V-Class Luxury MPV in India, we will be launching the V Class Marco Polo Camper."
Schwenk also goes on to say, "The V Class Marco Polo embodies these very characteristics combining outdoor ruggedness with Mercedes Benz's world-renowned luxury and technology. The V Class camper is surely going to create a lot of interest among our customers, who already have shown overwhelming response to the V-Class luxury MPVs."
The Elite V 220d is available with the BSVI compliant 2.0-litre 4-cylinder OM 654 diesel engine in its 165PS and 380Nm iteration, which is a different version found on the latest C and E Class. So we can speculate that the V Class Marco Polo to get the same engine with a different tuning, as seen on the C 300d which produces 250PS at 4200 rpm and 500 Nm at 1600 rpm of torque.
The camper will have features seen in foreign markets such as front seats that swivel, and rear seats that fold flat to make for a bed. The vehicle also features a pop-up roof that reveals an upstairs sleeping space. The final list of features along with the price will be revealed in the launch at Auto Expo itself, we expect this to be upwards of Rs 1.5 crore.
