Auto sales 2023: Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, and more
As the festive season upon us, auto manufacturers have started launching new and special edition offerings in India. Along with the new products, the companies have also posted their monthly sales report cards. While some of the previous sales reports were a mix of hits and misses, the carmakers registered a rise in their sales, while some even recorded the highest-ever monthly sales, in September 2023. With more festivities are upcoming, the sales are expected to get a boost in the coming months. But for now, here is a detailed sales report from key automakers of the country.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited was the front-runner in terms of monthly sales as it sold 1,50,812 units in September 2023 over 1,48,380 units sold in September 2022. However, the carmaker's sales saw a decline compared to the sales of 1,56,114 units in August 2023. It exported 22,511 units in the previous month, over 21,403 units sold in the same period of 2022.
Mahindra & MahindraMahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd) registered the overall sales of 75,604 units, reporting 17 per cent growth in the last month. The total sales comprised 41,267 units of domestic market and 42,260 units of exports. The carmaker had sold 34,508 units in the domestic market in the same period of 2022, while its August 2023 sales stood at 37,270 units. The brand said that it has achieved the highest-ever sales of its SUV line-up in the third consecutive month, witnessing a 20 per cent growth.
Honda Cars India
Honda Cars India Ltd. reported a 13 per cent domestic sales growth at 9,861 units in September 2023 compared to the same month in the previous year where it sold 8,714 units. Whereas, the carmaker had sold 7,880 units in August this year. Meanwhile, the exports for the last month stood at 1,310 units as against 2,333 units dispatched in September 2022.
Hyundai Motor IndiaHyundai Motor India Limited sold a total of 71,641 units in the last month with a 13.35 per cent growth compared to 63,201 units sold in September 2022. It registered a sales of 54,241 in the domestic market over 49,700 units sold in the previous year's September. On the other hand, the company exorted 17,400 units last month, reporting 28.87 per cent rise as against 13,501 units shipped in the same period of 2022.
MG Motor IndiaMG Motor India MG Motor sales grew to 5,003 units in the previous month from the sales of 3,808 units in the same month of 2022. The latest sales figure is also greater, from 4,185 units sold in August 2023. The brand said that the electric vehicles (EVs) contributed 25 per cent in its overall sales. Currently, MG retails the Comet EV and ZS EV.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported a sales of 22,168 units in the domestic market with 44.2 per cent growth compared to 15,378 units sold in September 2022 and 5.7 growth as against 20,970 units sold in August 2023. Meanwhile, the brand exported 1,422 units in the past month.
Nissan Motor IndiaNissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. witnessed a dip in sales to 2,454 units in September from 3,177 units sold in the same period of the previous month. However, the company registered the highest-ever export wholesale, which stood at 8,305 units in last month.
