BMW iX1 India launch on 28 Sept: What should you expect?
BMW is all set to introduce the new all-electric iX1 in India on 28 September, 2023. Based on the new generation X1 crossover, the iX1 is the entry-level offering in the brand's other electric vehicle (EV) line-up, the i4, iX, iX3, i5, and i7.
New BMW iX1: Electric powertrain, Range, and Power outputsPowering the iX1 is a 64.78kWh battery pack across two trim levels: eDrive20 and xDrive30. With this, it offers a maximum range of up to 438km, as per WLTP. The front-wheel drive eDrive20 with a single motor setup makes 204PS and 250Nm, whereas the xDrive30 with its dual-motor setup generates 313PS and 494Nm. Its AWD configuration can achieve zero to 100kmph in 5.7 seconds and provides a top speed of 180kmph. We expect BMW to offer both eDrive20 and xDrive30 variants of the iX1 in the country.
Further, the electric SUV supports 7.4kW Type-2 AC charger, which can charge it in a claimed 11 hours, while a 130kW DC charger takes 29 minutes to charge it from 10 to 80 per cent. The iX1 is compatible with a 11kW Type-2 charger that can charge it up in 6.5 hours.
New BMW iX1: Design, Interior, and featuresWhile the iX1 is almost identical to the X1, it differentiates itself with a blanked-off grille, distinctive front and rear bumpers, a spoiler, and alloy wheels. Apart from that, the electric SUV gets contrasting blue highlights on the front and rear bumpers and side body cladding. Moreover, it carries the same design elements, such as inverted L-shaped daytime driving lights, and L-shape taillights.
Inside, the interior resembles the X1. Hence there is a single-piece panel housing a 10.25-inch driver display and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The interior can be draped in full Veganza vegan leather upholstery, which the India-spec model could get as standard.
The feature-list of the iX1 include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, powered front seats with memory and massage functions, cruise control, multicolour ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, USB Type-C charging ports, and a hi-fi sound system, among others.
New BMW iX1: Price and RivalsWhile the BMW X1 prices start from Rs 45.90 lakh and go up to Rs 51.60 lakh (ex-showroom), we believe the prices of the iX1 EV could range between 55 and 65 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6.
