BMW X5 facelift India launch on 14 July: What should you expect?
German luxury carmaker BMW is all geared up to launch the X5 facelift, which is known as the LCI (Life Cycle Impulse). The updated X5, alongside the refreshed X6, made their global debut in February this year. The X5 facelift, with this mid-cycle facelift, features a fresh look similar to its up-to-the-minute siblings, a redesigned interior introducing BMW Curved Display, upgraded powertrains, and a range of advanced features. Currently, the on-sale X5 is available in a choice of two trims: xDrive40i M Sport and xDrive30d M Sport.

BMW has carried significant changes to the engines of the X5 facelift. For reference, the refreshed SUV (xDrive40i) now gets a new-gen 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder twin turbocharged petrol engine that makes 381PS and 520Nm of torque, which can be boosted to 540Nm, thanks to the mild hybrid assistance. Notably, the petrol motor now makes 47PS and 70Nm more than the previous unit.
The reworked 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder, twin turbo diesel engine now comes with steel pistons, a new common-rail direct injection system with solenoid valve injectors, and an optimised oil separation process. Also on offer as standard is a mild hybrid functionality. This motor produces 298PS and 670Nm of torque.
Further, the X5 facelift also benefits from a new plug-in hybrid powertrain in the form of xDrive50e. This powertrain pairs a new inline-six engine and new electric motor, generating a combined system output of 489PS (including a brief boost) and 700Nm of torque âÂ" an increase of 96PS and 100Nm over its predecessor. Above all, BMW has also given it a new 25.7kWh battery pack with an EV-only range of 94-110km, as per the WLTP cycle.
Moving on to a high-performance X5 facelift version, the BMWÃÂ X5ÃÂ M60iÃÂ xDrive is powered by a new 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine with twin turbocharged deliver 530PS and a peak torque of 750Nm, enabling it to achieve zero to 100kmph in just 4.3 seconds.
2023 BMW X5 LCI facelift: Design and colours
The key highlights of the updated X5 include an illuminated kidney grille, slimmer headlights with new arrow-tip-shaped daytime driving lights, new front and rear bumpers, and sharper taillights creating an X-motif. As standard, the X5 facelift gets a set of 19-inch alloy wheels, while the range-topping models come with 21-inch units. BMW also offers a set of up to 22-inch light alloy wheels as optional extras. While the M Sport package is available as an option, the new M Sport Pro package debuts with the SUV.
The carmaker has introduced a new paint job, called MÃÂ Marina Bay Blue metallic for the top-rung BMWÃÂ X5ÃÂ M60iÃÂ xDrive. However, a range of new shades including Blue Ridge Mountain metallic, Brooklyn Grey metallic, Skyscraper Grey metallic, and Frozen Pure Grey metallic are available across the board, along with other 40 BMW Individual special paint colour schemes.
2023 BMW X5 LCI facelift: InteriorThe BMW Curved Display makes its way to the refreshed X5 with a single curved glass panel comprising a 12.3-inch driver display and 14.9-inch central information hub. The new setup also brings the latest iteration of BMW OS, 8 and updated iDrive system.
Sports seats, full/extended Individual Merino upholstery, active massage and ventilation functions, 'sky lounge' sunroof featuring LED illumination, glass applications for switches, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, and a new travel and comfort system are offered as optional extras.
BMW X5 LCI facelift: Features and equipment
BMW offers the X5 facelift with new optional advanced driver assistance systems, such as speed limit assist, exit warning, active navigation, traffic light recognition, route speed control, emergency stop assist, lane change assistant, and merging assistant. However, the front-collision warning system is now standard. Additionally, the reversing assist camera and reversing assistant, with the standard parking assistant now boast the drive-off monitoring and trailer assistant functions. Also on offer is a Parking Assistant Professional system.
