Brixton Cromwell 1200 and Cromwell 1200 X launched in India
Brixton Motorcycles has officially stepped foot in India and has launched Cromwell 1200 and Cromwell 1200 X at Rs 7.84 lakh and Rs 9.11 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The Cromwell 1200 is a modern-day classic motorcycle and the Cromwell 1200 X is its scrambler sibling.
The Cromwell 1200 has quite a retro theme about itself with the beefy-looking tank, the big LED headlight upfront, blacked-out engine mechanicals and a tapered rear end with a mini breaklight. The 1200 X is based on the same bike but gets raised handlebars, a textured seat and grip pads on the fuel tank.
Powering both bikes is a 1,222cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 83PS at 6,550 rpm and 108Nm at 3,100 rpm. It has a six-speed gearbox attached to it. According to Brixton, the engine can drive the Cromwell up to a top speed of 198 kmph. Both bikes get the same features list that includes ABS, traction control, cruise control, a TFT display, all-LED lighting, and two ride modes: Eco and Sport.
A KYB telescopic fork with a 120mm travel at the front and preload-adjustable dual shock absorbers at the back support the Cromwell's double downtube cradle chassis. A 260mm disc at the back and two 310mm discs at the front handle the braking chores. The bike's wire-spoke rims measure 17 inches in the back and 18 inches in the front.
The Cromwell 1200 X will be limited to just 100 bikes for India making it a lot less accessible than the standard Cromwell 1200. Brixton Motorcycles is an Austrian brand that has partnered with Kaw Veloce Motors in India to create MotoHaus, which will sell the 2 bikes as well as a few more. Deliveries of these bikes are set to begin towards the end of 2024.
