Brixton Motorcycles: Brief history, plans for Indian market, & motorcycles
Brixton Motorcycles, an Austria-based company owned by KSR Group, showcased its first prototype motorcycle, called BX 125, at the EICMA in Milan in 2015. The newcomer in the world of the two-wheeler begun sales of its motorcycles in 2017. In fact, the BX 125 became a flag barer of different body style motorcycles, such as BX 125 X scrambler and BX 125 R cafe racer, among others. At 2017 EICMA, Brixton Motorcycles showcased more new models with a 250cc engine. In a couple of years, the brand introduced its sub-500cc motorcycles. However, the showstopper, the Cromwell 1200, was announced in 2019 âÂ" the first-ever litre-class model from Brixton Motorcycles.
Brixton Motorcycles recently announced that its plans to enter the Indian market. The brand will not only sell its offerings in the country, but will also manufacture them in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The brand has joined hands with KAW Veloce Motors Pvt. Ltd. for manufacturing and distribution of its motorcycles. It is to be noted that Brixton Motorcycles is owned by KSR Group, which licenses and manages a diverse product portfolio with over 15 brands in the division mobility and smart products for household and leisure.
Brixton Motorcycles, after nearly two years of planning with KAW Veloce Motors, it intends to leverage India's position in the global motorcycle market, reinforcing Brixton's growing reputation in Europe and Southeast Asia, a press release said.
The Austria-based motorcycle company aims to launch four motorcycles in India in 2024. These models are being developed at Brixton's Austrian design centre, with production is set to take place in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Both entities also plan set up a research and development centre in India with an intent to develop market-specific models, especially for countries like India.
With a manufacturing facility and four new models, Brixton Motorcycles is also exploring a plan to create a dealership network across major cities. This includes 15 dealerships by the end of this year and expanding them to 50 touchpoints by the following year. Currently, the brand sells Cromwell, Feslberg, Sunray, Rayburn, and Crossfire in the western markets. It will also showcase a new adventure motorcycle in the coming months, which is likely to be one of its four products for India.
