Bronze-themed Tata Safari, Harrier Jet editions launched, prices start from Rs 20.50 lakh
Continuing its strategy of sprucing up its models with special editions, Tata Motors has now launched the Tata Safari Jet Edition and the Tata Harrier Jet Edition. The Nexon also gets this treatment which the firm says is inspired by luxury you find in business jets.
Tata Safari, Harrier Jet edition exterior, interior changesThe Tata Safari and Harrier Jet Editions get a new Starlight dual-tone paint shade done in earthy bronze and platinum grey. There are also silver skid plates and black alloy wheels. On the inside, you get a new white and black interior with a bronzed centre stack. There are also bronze accents on the doors and floor as well bronze stitching on the seats and Jet embroidered on the seatbacks.
Tata Safari, Harrier Jet edition new features, safetyThe Tata Safari and Harrier Jet Editions also get more equipment to go with the spruced-up looks. The Safari Jet Edition gets winged head restraints in the second row for both the bench and captain seats versions while the Harrier now gets an electronic parking brake in both auto and manual variants, along with disc brakes all around. Both SUVs now also get USB-C charging across all rows while wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay, an air purifier and wireless charging have been added.
In terms of safety, there are more ESC-based features like driver drowsiness detection, panic braking alert and after-impact braking. The Jet Editons are based on the top XZ Plus variants of the Harrier and Safari and the existing feature set continues unchanged.
Features already available on the Tata Safari include the iRA suite of connected-car tech, mood lighting, TPMS and an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function. Carried over from the Harrier are the large panoramic sunroof, the 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system w, 9-speaker JBL audio, 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, auto headlamps and wipers, climate control, six-way powered driver's seats, tilt and telescopic steering, cruise control and a reverse parking camera.
Safety features include 6 airbags, the new added rear disc brakes, auto-dimming IRVMS, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, corner function foglamps, hill-hold, hill-descent control, corner-function fog lamps and a rear-view camera.
Tata Safari, Harrier Jet edition engine specificationsThese special editions of the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier remain mechanically unchanged. Both get the same 2.0-litre FCA-sourced Multijet diesel engine which Tata calls Kryotec, with its 172PS and 350Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. Also, the traction-based drive and off-road modes have been carried over here too.
Tata Safari, Harrier Jet edition prices
The Tata Harrier Jet Edition in its manual form costs Rs 20.90 lakh with the automatic priced at Rs 22.20 lakh. The Safari Jet Edition starts from Rs 21.35 lakh for the manual and Rs 22.65 lakh for the automatic. The captain seats come at a Rs 10,000 premium.
