BSVI Motorcycles and Scooters may get expensive by 10-15 per cent, says Yamaha India
In an official statement given out on Tuesday, Yamaha India states that the higher production cost of BSVI motorcycles and scooters may see a price hike ranging between 10 and 15 per cent. The company also states that their entire portfolio of products will switch over to BSVI compliance before the set deadline. "To be precise, the company will rejig its line up with BSVI compatible motorcycles and scooters in several phases starting as early as November 2019 for motorcycles, and January 2020 with scooters," as mentioned by Yamaha India.
The company will also update select models with a kickstand (Side stand) switch. A feature that does not start the engine until the kickstand has been folded.
Also, the company claims to focus on the premium segment of the motorcycle which could hint at the arrival of the new Yamaha YZF-R3 that is already on sale in the international markets. Expect to see the new Yamaha YZF-R3 at the 2020 Auto Expo that is held in Delhi every alternate year.
