Bugatti Chiron L’Ultime will be the last of its name

Bugatti has released a special version of the Chiron to commemorate the famous hypercar's retirement. The Chiron Super Sport L'Ultime, as it is known, is a reinterpretation of the automobile that debuted in Geneva eight years earlier. As we bid farewell to an icon, let's remember that the Chiron had some huge shoes to fill as it was the true heir to the throne its forefather, the famous Veyron had left vacant.

The Bugatti Chiron L'Ultime is the final special edition variation in Molsheim. The current model is based on the Super Sport version, similar to the previous "55 One of One" model that pays respect to creator Jean Bugatti.

The unique model combines the original Chiron's French Racing Blue and Atlantic Blue hues, but in reverse order and with a noticeable gradient between them. Furthermore, the front and back wheels are separately painted to match the bodywork's colours. To cap things off, the exclusive Bugatti macaron insignia on the horseshoe grille is painted blue.

The number '500' is hand-written on the body, wheel caps, rear wing, and etched on the engine cover.

Behind the driver is an 8.0-litre W-16 engine powered by four turbochargers. Bugatti upgraded the engine in the Super Sport models by updating the cylinder heads and valvetrain, as well as improving oiling and raising the redline marginally. The changes result in 1,600PS and 1,600Nm of torque. The car's seven-speed dual-clutch transmission has also been updated for quicker shifts and improved power output.

The Bugatti Chiron's replacement will replace its renowned quad-turbocharged W16 powerplant with a normally aspirated V16 with hybrid assistance. Bugatti is still producing the Mistral Roadster with only 99 units and the track-only Bolide with only 40 units, both based on the Chiron.
