Car sales November 2020: Tata Motors clocks 108 per cent growth over last year
Tata Motors' current sales resurgence has continued into November 2020. The homegrown brand sold 21,641 cars the past month, a 108 per cent growth compared to November 2019. But the festive season hype seems to have started to ebb, with sales dropping by 8 per cent over October 2020.
Tata Motors updated its entire small car line-up earlier this year with the Tiago, Tigor and Nexon all getting significant mid-life updates. The new Altroz premium hatchback has been very well received too while the Tata Harrier BSVI update has made it much more appealing to buyers.
The Altroz comes in two engine options. The 1.5-litre Revotorq turbo-diesel 4-cylinder is a detuned version of the one found in the Nexon and makes 90PS at 4,000rpm and 200Nm at 1,250-3,000rpm. The petrol motor is the 1.2-litre Revotron 3-cylinder petrol, as seen on the Tiago, with 86PS at 6,000rpm and 113Nm at 3,300rpm. Both come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata Motors will expand the Altroz line-up in the future with a DCT automatic and turbo-petrol engine. An electric version, the Altroz EV was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Harrier is powered by the FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel with 170PS and 350 Nm. This pairs with a six-speed automatic, available on the XM, XZ and XZ+ trims, and a six-speed manual. Notable features the Harrier comes equipped with are auto AC, keyless entry and go, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, auto headlamps and wipers, panoramic sunroof, xenon projector lamps, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with JBL audio and semi-digital instrument cluster. Recently, a military themes Camo cosmetic package was launched for the Harrier.
Prices for the Altroz start from Rs 5.44 lakh for the XE petrol and go up to Rs 9.09 lakh for the XZ Urban diesel. For the Harrier, the base XE variant costs Rs 13.84 lakh, going up to Rs 20.30 for the XZA+ Dark/Camo edition.
