CEAT teams up with Wander Beyond Boundaries to take on an expedition from India to Siberia
Ceat Tyres has announced the title sponsorship of the extreme overland pioneers, Wander Beyond Boundaries (WBB), as they embark on a historic 22,000km overland drive from Mumbai to Magadan in Siberia, traversing five countries and six time zones.
Arnab Banerjee, MD and CEO of CEAT, performed the flag-off ceremony for this trip at RPG House in Mumbai.
The adventure, which is directed by WBB Founder and seasoned extreme terrain driver Nidhi Salgame, will see Indian cars shod with CEAT tyres venture towards the Pole of Cold, the coldest inhabited spot on Earth. This voyage will also honour India's manufacturing prowess as well as the tenacious spirit of the Indian people.
The crew of eight professionals from Bengaluru, Hubli, Hyderabad, and Pune includes drivers from a variety of backgrounds, including physicians, interior decorators, and an organic farmer. The trip will take an exciting path from Mumbai to Nepal via the land border at Sanauli in Uttar Pradesh, then to Kathmandu and lastly to Tibet.
Before arriving in Beijing, stops include the famed Everest Base Camp and the historic Chinese city of Pingyao, among others. They will next travel via Mongolia's difficult offroad trails before entering southern Siberia.
The vehicles chosen by these brave professionals include three Mahindra Thar's and a Mahindra Scorpio N.
On the Trans-Siberian road, the team will traverse Lake Baikal, the world's biggest freshwater lake, and proceed east to Yakutsk in the Sakha Republic. The voyage will next take them via the infamous Road of Bones, which will lead them to Magadan, with a detour through Oymyakon, known as the Pole of Cold, the coldest inhabited area on Earth. The cars will be returned to India from Vladivostok.
Lakshmi Narayanan B, Chief Marketing Officer, CEAT Limited, added, "CEAT believes in pushing the boundaries and this expedition provides us the opportunity to not only support this historic endeavour by Wander Beyond Boundaries but also to showcase the performance of CEAT tyres as the team will tackle challenging terrains while travelling 22,500 kms from India to Siberia. This remarkable journey exemplifies our brand's commitment to innovation, resilience, and exploration. It gave us immense pride to flag off this event from RPG House. As the team embarks on this epic 75-day adventure, they embody the indomitable spirit of CEAT. With great anticipation, I wish Nidhi Salgame and her team an unforgettable journey, as they carve their path through uncharted territories, leaving behind a legacy of courage and determination."
