CES 2024: Honda debuts two '0 Series' EV concepts alongside new exclusive EV logo
Honda displayed two new electric vehicle (EV) concepts at the CES 2024, which is now taking place in Las Vegas, USA. The new '0 Series' of EVs is being developed with a new strategy - Thin, Light, and Wise for worldwide markets. Furthermore, the Honda 0 Series will feature innovative design, autonomous driving, linked technology, performance, and battery efficiency enhancements. Honda also unveiled a new H mark logo, which will be exclusive to next-generation EV cars.
The core concept behind the Honda 0 models, according to Honda, is "man maximum/machine minimum," a tricky bit of alliteration that indicates the company's commitment to driver-first, engaging performance, and lightweight efficiency, despite the presence of steer-by-wire and robotics-based automated driving technologies, which enthusiasts tend to view as detractors from the driving experience.
The first production car, based on the Saloon concept, will arrive in North America in 2026. Honda claims that by the late 2020s, 0 Series EVs will have a lightweight, energy-dense battery that can charge from 15 percent to 80 percent in 10-15 minutes.
The Saloon is the Honda 0 Series' flagship concept car. It has a short height and athletic style that emphasizes the performance-driven approach to design. Another intriguing feature is an instrument panel with a human-machine interface (HMI) that allows for simple and intuitive operation.
The Space-Hub concept is taller and has a van-like body. According to Honda, this vehicle boasts a roomy, adaptable cabin that can accommodate "a variety of passengers." Interior photos reveal bench seats wrapping across the rear and sides of the car. Honda did not indicate when or if the Space-Hub will be available for purchase.
The Honda 0 Series will include an ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistive System) that uses the technology contained in the Honda Sensing Elite, which was initially implemented in Japan in 2021 with the Honda Legend. Honda's "human-centric" safety approach is being used to design the next-generation AD (Automated Driving) system. It will use powerful AI, sensing, recognition, and driver monitoring technologies to deliver more human-like, natural, and high-precision risk forecasts, allowing AD features that users can feel secure and confident utilizing to be available.
Honda 'H' logo for EVsHonda's present "H mark" has a long history dating back to 1981. Honda created a new H mark to convey the company's desire to undergo a historic change as well as the capacity to always seek new challenges and improvements while introducing the next-generation EVs.
The newly announced H logo is simpler than the present one. It removes the box that encloses the present Honda logo. The vertical arms of the H, like in the present logo, sweep outward toward the top. All of Honda's new 0 Series EVs will use this redesigned H.
