Chevrolet to debut 2014 Camaro Convertible at Frankfurt
Chevrolet is taking the Camaro's soft-top version to next month's Frankfurt Auto Show. The coupe form had made it to the New York Auto Show. GM will now give the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible its global debut and introduce the 2014 Camaro in Europe.
The Camaro gets its power from a 6.2-litre V8 engine which comes with a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The automatic transmission model includes active fuel management and cam phasing (VVT). The manual transmission version churns out 432PS and a peak torque of 569Nm. 0âÂ"100 acceleration takes 5.4 seconds.
Changes are mostly aesthetic, other than the MyLink infotainment system with seven-inch touchscreen display in the dashboard and head-up display on the windshield. The front fascia has a wider lower grille and a narrower upper grille, bigger air dam and hood vents and refreshed headlights. At the rear, a sculptural deck lid, a spoiler with integral antenna, horizontal lamps and a diffuser complete the design. The Convertible does not get the Recaro seats.
The Camaro Convertible will arrive at select Chevrolet dealerships across Europe towards the end of the year, priced at ã40,320.
"Camaro has always been associated with iconic design, high performance and driving fun, and we are particularly proud of the new coupe and convertible models. They incorporate new high-tech features that add extra convenience and give customers even more value for their money," said Dr. Thomas Sedran, President and MD, Chevrolet Europe.
