Citroen C3 Aircross SUV to be unveiled on April 27
Citroen has just announced the global unveiling of an all-new SUV in India on April 27. This all-new SUV will take on the ever-expanding mid-size SUV segment and according to Citroen, it has been designed and engineered in India. The car has already been spotted testing on Indian roads and will most likely be called the Citroen C3 Aircross.
The Citroen SUV may be derived from the C3 hatchback, but it'll look quite different. The new midsize SUV is expected to measure around 4.2 metres in length and as per spy images, two and three-row seating layouts will be an option.
Design elements such as the split headlight set-up, the grille and wraparound tail-lamps will be carried over, but it will have upgraded headlamps over the C3 and an upright stance with a completely new rear quarter.
Apart from its distinctive front-end styling, the Citroen C3 Aircross also gets flared wheel arches and side cladding. In addition, unlike the C3, which only comes with steel wheels from the factory, it should get alloy wheels at least at higher trim levels.
The upcoming SUV should get the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that's offered on the range-topping C3 Feel Turbo variant and produces 110PS and 190 Nm of torque. We do expect to see a tuned version of this engine though as it could be underpowered for a bigger vehicle. We also expect a new transmission to debut on the new SUV as the C3 hatchback is not offered with an automatic.
The dashboard is expected to get a new design than the C3, but some basic components such as the steering wheel will hold their place. The upcoming SUV will feature a different touchscreen layout than the widescreen unit seen on the C3, and we also expect a plethora of new features over the C3 hatchback.
The new car will rival the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq.
