Citroen C5 Aircross facelift festive season India launch confirmed
Citroen India has put out a teaser confirming the launch of the Citroen C5 Aircross facelift in the next few weeks. This comes after the French carmaker launched the entry-level Citroen C3 in July. The C5 Aircross was only launched in India in April 2021 but came at the fag end of the pre-facelift model's tenure it first launched in 2017, with the facelifted C5 Aircross coming to European markets earlier in 2022.
2022 Citroen C5 Aircross facelift exteriorThe Citroen C5 Aircross facelift has lost the geometric, split headlamp look of the current car for a bolder, more condensed look. The Citroen chevrons have been made larger and are now standalone with the chrome extensions being widened to cover the full grille unlike earlier. These are now set on the gloss black background and extend in a segmented pattern into the restyled, darkened LED headlamps. The headlamps have been turned into a single unit with another interpretation of the new V light motifs being seen across newer Citroens like the C5X and even on the India-bound C3. The bumper has also lost its geometric detailing with a more angular shape for the air dam and silver accents on the air curtains at the edges, which are now functional.
The side profile remains largely unchanged except for a new, again more angular, design for the 18-inch alloy wheels. There is a new blue shade as seen here and two new contrasting accents, gloss black or aluminium, while the contrasting colour packs for the air bumps and other body panels continue to be available in four shades. At the rear, the rectangular LED tailamps have been given new three-part detailing.
2022 Citroen C5 Aircross facelift interior, new featuresThe interiors have also been given a significant overhaul with this update to the Citroen C5 Aircross. There is a new floating 10-inch touchscreen, replacing the earlier 8-inch which has also led to the distinct split air vents in the centre being replaced by more conventional ones. The centre console has also been reworked, with a more compact toggle-type gear selector and drive mode button.
Another notable change is that the comfort seats, a Citroen USP, have been reworked to add an extra 15 mm layer of foam. The front seats are also now heated and massaging while new materials and colours have been added to the cabin which includes more leather and an Alcantara option as well. The four interior themes or ambience available internationally have been reworked too.
2022 Citroen C5 Aircross facelift engines, specificationsThe C5 Aircross remains mechanically unchanged with this update. Internationally, the Citroen C5 Aircross comes with two petrol and two diesel engines. The base petrol is a 1.2 turbocharged three-cylinder with 131PS and 230 Nm, the other option is a 181PS and 250 Nm 1.6 turbo.
The two diesels are a 1.5 litre unit with 131PS and 300 Nm and a 2.0 litre with 181PS and 400 Nm, as seen in India. A hybrid powertrain with 60 km electric-only range is also available. The India-spec car should continue with its current powertrain unchanged
