Classic Legends teases BSA entry to India on 15 Aug
Classic Legends, a subsidiary of Mahindra Group, has teased a new motorcycle for the Indian market, which is scheduled to be launched on 15 August. The teaser picture shows an outline of a single-cylinder engine, hinting at the debut of much-anticipated BSA Motorcycles in the country. This picture resembles the design of its engine, hence BSA Motorcycles will introduce its 652cc Gold Star on the 78th Independence Day of India.
BSA Gold Star: HighlightsThe Gold Star draws inspiration from DB34 Gold Star 500 motorcycle. It features a minimalist and classy retro look with a round headlamp, a flat single-piece seat, plain teardrop fuel tank, wire spoke wheels, chrome-finished panels and parts, twin circular console, and a fairly elongated tail section.
BSA Motorcycle has equipped it with telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock, Brembo-sourced braking setup with a 310mm single disc at the front and a 255mm single disc at the rear, and dual-channel ABS, among others. The Gold Star weighs 213kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. Then, its seat height stands at 780mm.
BSA Gold Star: Engine specificationsThe Gold Star comes powered by a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine generating 45PS at 6,500rpm and 55Nm at 4,000rpm. This motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox. In contrast, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and other 650 models get a 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine producing 47PS at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of torque at 5,650rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
BSA Gold Star: PricingBSA Motorcycles is expected to bring the Gold Star to India as a CBU. Therefore, the price of this motorcycle likely to range between Rs 2.70 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh. Upon launch, it will take on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
