First showcase at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Aprilia Storm 125 is based on the SR 125 that is already on sale in India. However, this one gets cosmetic additions to give it an off-roadish design. OVERDRIVE has learnt that Aprilia will be pricing the Storm 125 at Rs 65,000 ex-showroom Pune, which makes it Rs 83,000, on-road. Aprilia dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the scooter for a token amount of Rs 2,000. The deliveries of the same can be availed from today onward. Aprilia will be offering a free warranty of five years whereas the labour service will be complimentary for a year.
From the looks of it, the basic design of the Aprilia Storm 125 is identical to that of the SR 125. There are minor changes though, which can be seen as new graphics on the apron, larger wheels with block tread pattern and also the presence of a grab rail which makes it convenient for the pillion. Aprilia has confirmed that the Storm 125 will be offered with drum brakes only. Similar to the SR 125, the Storm 125 too gets CBS (combined braking system) which is a mandatory feature. The ex-showroom price of the Storm 125 is Rs 65,000 while that of the SR 125 is Rs 71,385, this making the price of the Storm 125 lower by Rs 6,385.
In terms of features, the 2019 Storm 125 comes with 12-inch tyres on blackened alloy wheels, telescopic front and conventional rear shock absorber set-up, 150mm front and 140mm rear drum brakes, body graphics with a choice of three matte colours - red, white and yellow. While in the initial phase, the red and the yellow shades will be available, white will be added at a later date. Powering the 2019 Aprilia Storm 125 is a 124.55cc engine that makes 9.52PS of power at 7,250rpm and generates a torque of 9.9Nm at 6,250rpm. The state of tune is identical to that of the SR 125 scooter.
Additionally, Piaggio will also be launching the Vespa Urban Club scooter on the same day, priced at Rs 72,190, ex-showroom Pune. The Vespa Urban Club will be based on the Vespa's LX 125 and will feature blackened mirrors, alloy wheels, grab rails and other bits. Basically, Vespa has de-chromed this one for a more sporty design, compared to the bling seen on some of the other models. The engine and the state of tune remains unchanged compared to the LX125.
