Coronavirus impact: Honda Cars registers sale of 375 units in May

Honda Cars has announced that it has recorded a sale of 375 units in the month of May 2020 amid the operation restrictions during the lockdown 4.0. It will be a steep climb for the manufacturers to get back the regular numbers and it will take some time as well to achieve those figures.

The manufacturers have rolled out lucrative deals, financial schemes and digital platforms to boost customer sentiment while reducing the risk of contracting the virus. Honda Cars has recently launched the 'Honda from Home' initiative that enables potential customers to access the Honda car fleet without leaving the comfort of their homes. This will reduce footfall at the dealership and minimise the risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.

Over 280 facilities of the company are operational across the country. And the company is taking all preventive measures to ensure the safety of all its employees and the customers while resuming operations in the post-lockdown world.

Rajesh Goel, senior vice president and director of marketing and sales at Honda Cars India Ltd said, "COVID-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented situation where HCIL and our dealer network have been responding in the best possible manner. During May, after the rollout of several relaxations from central and state government, we focussed on re-opening of our network while ensuring strict adherence to the sanitisation, safety and distancing guidelines for COVID-19 prevention. Against all odds, our dealers have now been able to operationalise almost 280 facilities pan India. As a result, we were able to deliver more than 1,900 units to our customers. The domestic wholesale last month was of course quite limited due to the negligible inventory available at our factory before the lockdown."

He added, "In order to make the car-buying process more convenient for customers, HCIL recently introduced 'Honda from Home' online Sales platform. This facility would surely complement dealership sales and reduce the physical contact of the customer with the dealership."
